Tony Hawk Going Pro; by Brendan

Author’s Note

This Memoir d’un autre is all about how Tony Hawk became who he is now. Tony was the first Champion on the NSA. Peralta got him after a contest. Then he was on Bones Brigade the biggest skating company in the world. Then he got on the Skate Veterans team with Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, and Rodney Mullen, he learned a lot from them. Now Tony Hawk is world’s BEST skateboarder in the WORLD.

I grew up in Serra Mesa, California. I was born May 12, 1968. I first stepped on to a skateboard in 1974. Then when I was 12 I accepted Peralta’s invitation. Peralta approached me after a contest. Peralta was manager of Bones Brigade. The Brigade was the skateboarding team for the Powell Peralta company.

Powell Peralta was one of the biggest skating companies in the world. Bones Brigade was named after Ray “Bones” Rodriguez. I was the youngest skater on the team. I was on the Skate Veterans team. Steve Caballero, Mike McGill, and Rodney Mullen, were also on the team. Mike and Steve were the best on that team, and even the worlds best skaters. Steve invented the Caballerial, the Caballerial was a 360 degree Ollie through the air! I learned a lot from them 3.

When I was 14 I became a very famous skateboarder. I’m in lot’s of contests but sometimes I unfortrunily don’t win contests all the time. People sometimes other skaters make front of me because I have my own skating style. But I don’t care, I love my way of skating. I was the first champion on NSA of the 1983 season. Eventualy I then became the hero of my sport.
